At the end of the year there are always the same things that pop up on all year-end list and usually its because they totally suck and that’s the type of thing lots of people like. Over-hyped things that suck. But you can always count on like the Beatles and Nirvana making the list too. Cause occasionally a few things don’t suck and are really amazing and make the cut.

Paul Schiek is an artist living in Oakland CA. In 2005, he self published his first book Good By Angels. Soon after, he started the independent publishing house TBW BOOKS, which has published books in subscriptions, including titles by Todd Hido, Jim Goldberg, Mike Brodie, Marianne Mueller and Alec Soth, as well as more of his own. Schiek's work has been exhibited worldwide and was recently included in the book SHOOT, published by Rizzoli. He is represented by Stephen Wirtz Gallery.
